Domaine Bachey-Legros - Exceptional Red and White Wines from Santenay, in the heart of the Côte de Beaune

Nestled at the foot of the Montagne des Trois Croix in the village of Santenay, Domaine Bachey-Legros has embodied the authenticity and excellence of southern Côte de Beaune wines since the 19th century. This heritage has been carefully passed down through generations, from François Bachey to Christiane, and today to Samuel and Lénaïc, who passionately uphold the family philosophy based on respect for the vineyards, nature, and the work of previous generations.

The estate’s vineyard extends across 18 hectares, expanded with each generation, on some of the finest terroirs of Santenay, Chassagne-Montrachet and Maranges, where the elegance and character of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay fully express themselves.

The estate’s richness and uniqueness lie in its old vines, ranging from 60 to 110 years of age. These mature vineyards naturally produce low yields but exceptionally concentrated and complex grapes, true ambassadors of a deeply rooted terroir. Gentle pressing is followed by low-temperature barrel fermentation on fine lees, in keeping with the great traditions of Burgundy winemaking.

The white wines, made exclusively from Chardonnay,are aged in oak barrels for 12 to 15 months depending on the character of the vintage, with regular bâtonnage until the onset of malolactic fermentation. The red wines, crafted exclusively from Pinot Noir, focus on roundness and fruit purity through gentle extraction methods.

Domaine Bachey-Legros offers a remarkable range of appellations. White Wines : Bourgogne Blanc, Santenay Blanc, Santenay 1er Cru Les Gravières, Chassagne-Montrachet, Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru La Boudriotte, Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Morgeot, Puligny-Montrachet and Meursault. 

Red Wines : Bourgogne Rouge, Santenay, Santenay 1er Cru Clos Rousseau, Santenay 1er Cru La Comme, Maranges, Côte de Beaune-Villages. 

Since 2008, the estate has also developed a wine trading activity, and in 2017 it inaugurated a new winery, reflecting its ongoing commitment to progress and excellence.
