Domaine Guy Bocard
Domaine Guy Bocard – The Excellence of Chardonnay in Meursault, at the Heart of the Côte de Beaune
Located in the heart of Meursault, one of Burgundy's most iconic villages in the Côte d'Or, Domaine Guy Bocard embodies the authenticity and finesse of the region's finest wines. Nestled along the prestigious Route des Grands Crus, between Beaune, Volnay, Pommard and Puligny-Montrachet, the estate benefits from an exceptional terroir listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site under the Burgundy Climats. It is within this privileged setting that the Bocard family has, since the 1920s, forged a viticultural identity deeply rooted in respect for the soil and the authentic expression of Burgundian Chardonnay.
Passed down from generation to generation, Guy Bocard took over the reins in 1976 and led the estate for nearly 50 years. Today, the Derichebourg family, passionate about terroir and viticulture, has taken over the domaine and entrusted winemaking to the highly talented Philippe Pacalet, who brings his full expertise to bear: long pressing of whole clusters, use of indigenous yeasts, minimal lees stirring and rigorous barrel selection.
Specialising in white wines, the estate is committed to offering a pure and true expression of each climat and lieu-dit in its possession, among some of the finest terroirs in Meursault and the Côte de Beaune.
The Domaine Guy Bocard range covers a remarkable breadth of appellations: the Bourgogne Aligoté Les Chanterelles, from old vines in the lower slopes of Meursault; the Bourgogne Blanc, a blend of three plots adjoining the appellation's greatest climates; the Bourgogne Côte d'Or; then a series of exceptional Meursault Villages, including the Vieilles Vignes cuvée — from vines aged 50 to 80 years —, Les Narvaux, Limozin, and finally the estate's two most emblematic Meursault Premiers Crus: Les Genevrières-Dessous, considered the domaine's greatest wine, and Les Charmes-Dessus, facing the celebrated Perrières. The range also extends to Auxey-Duresses 1er Cru Les Reugnes, a high-potential plot at the entrance to the valley, immediately adjacent to Meursault.
Sharing a common signature, the estate's wines offer purity, precision and a beautiful acidity that guarantees freshness. Primary fruity and floral aromas develop in their youth, before revealing a mineral and saline finish characteristic of the finest terroir-driven Meursault. From the Bourgogne Aligoté to the Meursault 1er Cru, the same care and attention is devoted to every cuvée, allowing the terroir every opportunity to express its subtleties and tell its story.
