Domaine Comte Senard
Aloxe-Corton 1er Cru Les Valozières 2017
Domaine Comte Senard - Exceptional wines crafted over five generations
Nestled in the heart of Burgundy’s vineyards in the village of Aloxe-Corton, Domaine Comte Senard extends over 10 hectares of prime vineyard land. Since 2005, Lorraine Senard has led the estate, succeeding her father, Philippe Senard, who dedicated himself to its development from 1977 onwards.
Founded in 1857 by the Count Senard’s great-grandfather, the estate draws upon generations of winemaking expertise to produce outstanding wines and renowned Grand Crus, including the celebrated "Corton Clos des Meix". Over the years, Domaine Comte Senard has expanded its holdings to include prestigious appellations such as Corton "Paulands", Corton "Bressandes" and Corton "Clos du Roi", further enhancing the reputation of both the estate and its Côte de Beaune wines.
The philosophy of Domaine Comte Senard is founded on the quality of its fruit and a sustainable approach to viticulture. Great care is taken to respect the natural growth cycle of the vine and its environment. The vineyards are cultivated without herbicides or insecticides, and the entire estate is ploughed traditionally. During harvest, the grapes undergo a meticulous double selection process to ensure that only the finest fruit is retained.
Particular attention is paid to developing the wines’ aromatic complexity. The wines are then aged for 18 months in oak barrels—one-third new oak, one-third one-year-old barrels, and one-third two-year-old barrels—allowing the estate to craft wines of remarkable depth, balance, and quality.
