Domaine Anne-Françoise Gros – The Excellence of Pinot Noir in Pommard, Burgundy

Founded in 1988 by Anne-Françoise Gros, Domaine A.F. Gros has established itself as one of the most prestigious references in Burgundy. Born from the union of the Gros and Parent lineages, two great Burgundian winemaking families, this estate located in Pommard between Beaune and Volnay in the Côte d'Or, brings together over 10 hectares of vines spread across the finest terroirs of the Côte de Beaune and the Côte de Nuits, situated along the Route des Grands Crus, listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. 

Today, two of their children carry on this legacy: Mathias oversees the winemaking while Caroline handles the management, development and commercialisation of the estate's wines.

The range of Domaine A.F. Gros offers a remarkable exploration of Burgundy's greatest terroirs, with a collection of cuvées covering the following appellations: among the Grands Crus, Richebourg Grand Cru and Échézeaux Grand Cru in the Côte de Nuits, as well as Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru, the estate's only white wine, of remarkable minerality and complexity. At Premier Cru level, the estate produces Pommard 1er Cru Les Arvelets, Pommard 1er Cru Les Pézerolles and Pommard 1er Cru Les Chanlins, alongside Beaune 1er Cru Les Montrevenots. The Villages range includes Vosne-Romanée, Chambolle-Musigny, Gevrey-Chambertin, Savigny-lès-Beaune and Pommard. The estate also offers a Bourgogne Rouge and Hautes-Côtes de Nuits, as well as a Moulin-à-Vent — a nod to Beaujolais that rounds out the range harmoniously.

The viticulture practised at Domaine A.F. Gros is rooted in meticulous work of the clay-limestone soils of the Côte de Beaune and the marl-limestone soils of the Côte de Nuits, whose profound geological variations give each cuvée a singular aromatic identity. The harvests, entirely by hand, are followed by rigorous sorting both in the vineyard and in the cellar, ensuring an impeccable selection of grapes. The winemaking favours gentle extraction, respectful of the fruit and the terroir, with carefully managed pigeage and pumping-over tailored to the profile of each vintage. Ageing in French oak barrels, for varying lengths of time according to the hierarchy of appellations, brings complexity and depth to the wines without ever masking the expression of the terroir. Villages, Premiers Crus and Grands Crus all receive the same level of attention, reflecting the estate's philosophy: to allow each plot to express itself fully and reveal the quintessence of Burgundy's greatest terroirs.
