Domaine Hoffmann-Jayer - the expression of viticultural terroir
Domaine Hoffmann-Jayer spans 10 hectares and is located in the Burgundian village of Magny-lès-Villers, which has the distinctive feature of marking the boundary between two appellations: the Hautes Côtes de Beaune and the Hautes Côtes de Nuits. Since 2017, Alexandre Vernet, a young Burgundian winemaker, has been the driving force behind Domaine Hoffmann-Jayer, located between Beaune and Nuits-Saint-Georges.
A strong predominance of red wines stands out, particularly those from the Côte de Nuits: Echézeaux Grand Cru "Echézeaux Du Dessus", Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru « Les Damodes », Nuits-Saint-Georges Village « Les Hauts Poirets », Côte de Nuits Villages, as well as the renowned Bourgogne “Hautes Côtes de Beaune” and “Bourgogne Hautes Côtes de Nuits” in both white and red.
Vineyard work and respect for the soil are a priority in Domaine Hoffmann-Jayer's approach, drawing on the unique characteristics and history of the vineyard. The expression of viticultural terroir depends on four key factors: the soil, the plant, the environment and the human hand. Each plot of vines has its own identity and specific needs, giving rise to singular and varied aromatic expressions found throughout the Domaine's wines. Domaine Hoffmann-Jayer is moving towards a more environmentally respectful approach, paying particular attention to the vines and the soil in order to preserve each plot for the future. This more responsible approach to viticulture also relies on the elimination of synthetic molecules, and a special focus on stimulating the vine and promoting the overall wellbeing of the plant.
